Active Since 2021
We welcomed the Portugal team to Inspiring Girls in 2021 and they have been working tirelessly since then to empower girls across the country.
2023 was a remarkable year of expansion and impact for Inspiring Girls Portugal. They organised range of activities in schools, including dynamic speed-networking sessions, financial workshops and gender equality training. But they have also taken part in careers fairs, conferences, and much more! With the support of over 400 volunteers, they have reached and positively impacted more than 2.500 students.
Meet Our Country Chair
Joana Frias Costa
Joana Frias Costa is the Executive President of Inspiring Girls Portugal, a non-profit organisation dedicated to increasing girls’ professional ambition and challenging gender stereotypes through role models, education and community-based programmes.
She is also Vice-President of the Portuguese Platform for Women’s Rights (PpDM), Regional Development Lead at Inspiring Girls International, founder of Academia da Diversidade (Diversity Academy), and an Adjunct Professor in Strategic Communication and Public Relations at ESCS – Polytechnic University of Lisbon.
With a background in communication, gender equality and social impact, her work focuses on empowering girls and young women through initiatives related to leadership, STEM, digital citizenship, civic participation and inclusive communication.
