Costa Rica

IG CHAIR: Vivian Liberman

Inspiring Girls Costa Rica have established themselves as a dynamic and ambitious team. COVID-19 and the resulting closure of schools meant that the majority of the events that the team had planned on running were adapted to suit online access.

They started by partnering with Johnson & Johnson to run a large scale event with a Costa Rican public school on encourage girls to pursue STEM career paths and they ran another event in partnership with Establishment Lab S.A. on the work that women do within their company.

In an effort to reach even more young girls around the country the Costa Rican team have run a campaign to recruit even more role models for the Inspiring Girls Video Hub. They have also started a series of online webinars for women role models to be interviewed by young girls to learn more about their career paths. One of their most successful was held at the end of October 2020 with sixty-eight girls from seven schools of the Province of Guanacaste. The activity consisted of an inspirational talk with the Costa Rican scientist Marcela Garita. Seven different schools participated and it was the first time that Inspiring Girls Costa Rica held an event in this part of the country!
