Inspiring Girls wins d-LAB Challenge
Mobile World Capital Barcelona and Barcelona City Hall have announced Inspiring Girls and Fluttr as winners of the fourth d-LAB Challenge, the digital transformation programme that has sought the best solutions and projects to reduce the gender gap in the ICT sector. This award has involved GSMA, the Digital Leadership Institute, and the European Centre For Women and Technology.
The awards ceremony took place today as part of the event ‘Open City: Biennial of Thought’, organised by Barcelona City Hall. Jordi Arrufí, Director of d-LAB at MWCapital, and Francesca Bria, Commissioner for Digital Technology and Innovation of Barcelona City Hall, awarded the prizes. They presented Inspiring Girls’ Director of Operations, Sara Parry, with the award.
d-LAB is a programme of Mobile World Capital Barcelona that has an annual call for proposals to answer societal challenges with considerable scale and relevance. This year's challenge is Empowering women in the tech industry - with 29 organisations applying for the award, ranging from the USA, Singapore, Mexico, the Netherlands, UK and Spain.
As well as providing funding to pilot Inspiring Girls Online, d-LAB also dedicates expertise to help coordinate the partnership and plan what's needed to test and launch the new digital resource.
We are absolutely thrilled to have been selected as winners, and are excited to get started.
The other winners were Fluttr, for their project to develop a gamified platform for women in the tech industry.
